Action "Children paint for Children" - an advertisement for Maggie’s Sunhouse
Windhoek, June 26, 2006

After proper forward planning during the rainy season in the months of March and April things had come to a point. 15 of my former Grade 7 learners from Delta School Windhoek and their arts teacher anxiously looked forward to the special action „Children paint for Children“.

On Tuesday, 13th of June we met in the school premises. In quite a short time everything was stowed away in 2 vehicles: The young artists, the colour pots, the brushes and other utensils and off we went.

In Maggie’s Sunhouse we already were expected by our caregiver Flyode, who had dished up snacks and juice. The neighbourhood had been informed of our action and was anxiously watching what was going on there.

Purposefully and with great commitment the learners painted Namibian animals in their environment on the 20 m long front wall of our premises.
It was really fantastic what appeared after round about 3 hours work!
As a reward the learners received N$ 500 to top up their class cash-box.
The wall in front of our premises has got a special face now. It has turned into the visiting card of Maggie’s Sunhouse.

I send many, many thanks to Delta School Windhoek and to the German-Namibian Society ( DNG ) in Berlin for financing this action in its entirety.
